Security industry has great need to exchange ideas in person again and to present new products.


The security industry is experiencing a growth in pandemic times. The rise in telecommuting is fuelling not only the IT security. The protection of highly sensitive areas such as clinics, pharmaceutical companies or vaccination centres has also become more relevant. The topic of security affects numerous areas of life and work and has taken on new dimensions. Therefore, the desire of the security industry to be able to meet and exchange ideas in person again and to present new products is great.

Frankfurt, November 25, 2020 – Normally, no distance is too far for members of the European Security Systems Association (ESSA) to attend their annual general assembly in Frankfurt. They come together from New Zealand, Brazil, China, India, Russia, Ukraine, the USA and almost all EU countries to strengthen their network and exchange on the progress of their global standardization efforts. Last week, the ESSA family came together again - and yet everyone stayed at home. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 General Assembly was conducted as a web meeting.

Frankfurt, 3 December 2019 – When the European Security Systems Association (ESSA) invites its members to its general assembly, then there is no way too far: Nearly 140 experts from the entire physical security industry travelled from New Zealand, China, India, Brazil, the USA and many European countries to Frankfurt on 13 and 14 November 2019. These included leading manufacturers and suppliers of safes and solutions for strongrooms as well as insurance and government representatives.





ESSA International Leadership Award 2019 for Wolfgang Bruna

ESSA honours Bruna's long-standing commitment to the security of safes and strongrooms / Wertheim engineer and ESSA board member has been involved in European committees for more than 20 years


Frankfurt, 28. November 2019 – Since 1977 Wolfgang Bruna has been designing safes for his employer Wertheim in Guntramsdorf near Vienna. For more than two decades, he is committed to high manufacturer-independent security standards at European level - and has since missed only one of dozens of working group meetings. Now, since 14 November 2019, he is the laureate of the ESSA International Leadership Award 2019. The European Security Systems Association (ESSA) e.V. awards the prize annually to personalities who make a special contribution to the further development of the industry through their extraordinary commitment.

Frankfurt, October 2019 – Security Essen is continuing to consolidate its position as a platform of the security industry on which all relevant target groups can obtain information. Numerous companies have confirmed their participation in the world's leading trade fair, which will take place at Messe Essen from 22 to 25 September 2020.






Launch of SECOTA Comparison Test

Rigorous test for the security of safes


Frankfurt/M. April 2019 – A safe is usually a purchase for life. But how secure are certified safes? And are the burglary tests carried out by specialised laboratories at all comparable in view of the large number of different types of safe constructions and multitude of interpretation possibilities that can arise when reading a Standard?

In the independent SECOTA (Security, Equivalent, Certification, Organization, Testing and Auditing) project, laboratories, testing and certification bodies and other representatives from the physical security and insurance industry are working together to clarify these issues. The aim is to increase transparency for customers and insurers in a confusing market.






SECOTA starts New Year with Comparison Test

Frankfurt/M. – December 2018. As part of this year's ESSA General Assembly, the SECOTA working group, which was set up in October 2018, was officially introduced for the first time. The working group, consisting of international representatives from all sectors of the physical security and insurance industry, has set itself the goal of making laboratories more comparable in the future. Already in the spring of 2019, the first steps – in the form of a comparison test – should be substantiated.

The ESSA International Leadership Award, which was introduced for the first time last year, was once again awarded to an important person in the international security industry this year. The award honors people, who have made a special contribution to the continuous development of the industry due to their extraordinary commitment.

Board Elections, personnel changes and SECOTA - The industry is facing new challenges


Frankfurt/M. – November 2018. On the 14th and 15th of November 2018, the annual General Assembly of the European Security Systems Association (ESSA) took place again in Frankfurt am Main. For the 51th consecutive year, 136 representatives of the international security industry met to commemorate last year's activities and set the course for a successful next year.





Beginning of SECOTA Working Group

Comparison of Testing and Certification in Europe


Frankfurt/M. – November 2018. On the 19th of October2018, the first official meeting of SECOTA took place in Frankfurt am Main. The working group, made up of international representatives from all sectors of the physical security and insurance industry, has set itself the goal of making laboratories easier to compare in the future - through regular comparative tests. Here, test philosophies and processes should be harmonized, thereby creating a transparent industry platform for the continuous exchange of experience.





Security Essen 2018: As an official partner, ESSA is represented at the fair again


Frankfurt/M. – September 2018. From the 25th to the 28th of September 2018, Security Essen will be the hot spot of the international security and fire protection industry. For the first time, the leading event takes place in the modernized grounds of Messe Essen, organized in six overarching thematic areas in line with the market. As in previous years, the European Security Systems Association will be represented as official partner of the fair with its own booth.
